RESOURCES FOR THOSE WHO WORK WITH CHILDREN

ALPHABET SOUP

Alphabet Soup is a six-week parent and preschooler program that focuses on nutrition and literacy. The program includes rhymes, songs, finger plays, introductions of stories, learning activities for parents and early nutrition. This program is offered in partnership with CHEP (Child Hunger Education Program) in various Saskatoon classrooms and in cooperation with Saskatoon Community Associations.

If your school, community association or organization is interested in hosting an Alphabet Soup program, contact the Family Literacy Coordinator for more information at 652-5448.


GOOD BOOK BINS

You may have noticed red plastic recycling boxes filled with children's books placed in strategic locations throughout the city. These are the READ Saskatoon Good Book Bins.

Saskatoon’s Good Book Bins

Families are encouraged to choose a new or gently used book from the box and read it together in the waiting area. You can take the book home, bring it back at your next visit, replace it with another book, or keep it for yourself!

Good Book Bins are available throughout Saskatoon at the following locations:

  • Minor Emergency Clinics at Laurier Drive and 22nd Street
  • Riversdale Child Health Clinic
  • Building Health Equity Clinic at W.P Bate Community School
