BOOK DONATIONS

Good Book Bins

You also may have noticed red plastic recycling boxes filled with new and gently used children's books placed in strategic locations throughout the city. These are the READ Saskatoon Good Book Bins. Families are to be encouraged to choose a book from the box to read together in the waiting area. Books can be taken home and returned at a later date, or kept. If you would like to make a donation to the READ Saskatoon library or to our Good Book Bins, contact us today.

SPONSOR A READ SASKATOON PROGRAM OR SERVICE

READ Saskatoon is a not-for-profit organization and fulfills its mission using funding derived solely through project grants and fundraising. Over the years, many businesses, employee groups and individuals have enhanced specific literacy projects through donations. For example:

  • In 2008 Hitachi donated $5,000 to enhance our adult literacy tutoring program. The contribution assisted in moving our half-time coordinator to full-time to meet the increasing number of adult learners who need assistance, as well tutors who require additional support and guidance. It also subsidized the costs associated with publishing a quarterly newsletter aimed at improving the literacy skills and access to community information for adult learners in Saskatoon

  • Each year, the University of Saskatchewan Employee’s donation fund contributes over $4,000 to us. An organization cannot deliver creative programming that meets the needs of learners and community without a healthy foundation and infrastructure. A strong board of directors and a creative staff cannot work at their best when they worry about paying the rent. The University of Saskatchewan Employee’s support to our infrastructure is pivotal to the sustainability and continuity of services we offer our adult learners and our community.
