Job Profile Program Facilitator

Job Purpose

The Program Facilitator delivers workshops related to READ Saskatoon financial literacy initiatives. They facilitate and administer financial literacy events/programs, manage volunteers, and build community partnerships. In addition, they provide guidance, support, resources, and tools to other organizations.

Major Responsibilities

1. Deliver financial literacy workshops, programs, and events
• Collaborate with community partners to plan events and programs throughout the community that meet our target demographics;
• Prepare workshop/program materials;
• Facilitate READ Saskatoon financial literacy programs, events, and trainings;
• Collect evaluation data and ensure it is entered into databases in a timely manner;
• Review the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis

2. Coordinate and administrate financial literacy initiatives
• Arrange financial literacy events, programs, and/or additional learning opportunities;
• Develop and implement effective strategies to recruit literacy participants
• Coordinate, train, and supervise volunteers
• Monitor the project activities on a regular basis
• Ensure that the project deliverables are on time and at a high level of quality;
• Write monthly, interim and final reports on projects for management and funders; report evaluation findings to the Program Manager and recommend changes to enhance the program, as appropriate;
• Maintain forms and records to document program and volunteer activities, adhering to confidentiality and privacy policies of READ Saskatoon;
• Track and maintain professional relationships and initiate new partnerships/contacts locally and provincially, through meetings, presentations, and networking opportunities;
• Identify and evaluate the risks associated with program activities and take appropriate action to control the risks;
• In collaboration with the project team, create, review, and revise a detailed work plan to successfully meet all outcomes and outputs determined by the agency
• Research current literacy trends, resources and information related to needs of READ Saskatoon learners;


Education and Certification
• University degree, education or related experience
• Certificate in Momentum’s Money Management Workshops is an asset
• Current Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Search Knowledge, skills and abilities

• Understanding and appreciation of cultural adaptation;
• Able to develop positive and collaborative working relationships with a variety of stakeholders (adult participants, community-based organizations, partners);
• Able to establish and maintain relationships with program participants while setting appropriate boundaries;
• Knowledge of adult learning principles;
• Strong leadership skills;
• Able to monitor and assess learning progress and provide feedback on achievements

• 3 to 5 years’ experience in a related field
• Facilitation experience with adults;
• Experience in program management, coordination, and event planning;
• Experience working with vulnerable adults

Working Conditions
• The Facilitator works a standard work week but will be required to work some evenings and weekends to meet project milestones.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle mandatory.
